Welcome to the inspiring journey of Malual Reer, formerly known as Matthew, a remarkable individual born in 1981 in what is now South Sudan. Despite the absence of official birth records due to his village’s circumstances, Malual’s life story is a testament to resilience, determination, and the unwavering commitment to making a positive impact.

Born into a large family amidst the challenges of poverty and the turbulent environment of Sudan, Malual’s early years were fraught with adversity. Following the loss of his parents, he embarked on a journey that would take him from his homeland to various parts of the world, facing hardships such as harsh living conditions and scarcity of resources.

However, amidst the turmoil, Malual seized an opportunity for education, joining a group of boys bound for Ethiopia. This journey ignited his thirst for knowledge and self-improvement, despite traversing deserts and military training camps. His resilience shone through during his years in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, where he worked tirelessly, even as a bike courier, to fund his studies.

In 2001, Malual’s journey led him to the United States, where he continued his education and embraced roles as both a student and a loving father. Supported by organizations like the Jewish Family and Children Services, he honed his nursing skills, becoming a pillar of support in the South Sudanese community. His leadership abilities were recognized as he assumed roles within prominent organizations, advocating for refugees and contributing to the betterment of South Sudan.

Despite living in the U.S., Malual Reer remained deeply connected to his roots, maintaining strong ties with his family in South Sudan and supporting their education and well-being. His commitment to creating lasting change led him to write his autobiography, shedding light on his journey and the educational challenges in South Sudan, while advocating for public awareness and nation-building.

Malual’s life embodies the power of determination and compassion, from childhood hardships to purpose-driven leadership. Recognizing education as a cornerstone of success, he ensures his children receive the best education possible, emphasizing the importance of self-realization and discovery.
